My Top Five
If I were to sum up this rafting trip in a sentence, it'd probably go something like: "...intensely memorable...Western River hits one out of the park." Or something equally tacky. But that's just it; it's impossible to describe this trip without sounding like a Hallmark representative.
Top five things about this trip, in no particular order, are as follows: (1) The guides. Without you guys (Brian, Evan, Skinny, Matt, I'm talking to you) I wouldn't have had half the fun I did. Consider me in debt to all of you. (2) The other passengers. People from all over the place managing to congregate on J-rig for six days...you just never know who you're going to meet. Trust me. (3) The views. They are spectacular, with every turn of the head being worthy of a photograph Unfortunately one has to budget film in this regard, which can be tough. (4) The food! Setting up camp was one of my favorite times of the day. Everyone is winding down, and I know that dinner's on the way. Nice rainbow trout, boys. Oh, and I almost forgot. (6) The whitewater rapids. This is not some trip where you are just sightseeing for six days, snapping photos and staying dry and in the sun. Believe me when I tell you to hold on to something (Hermit, Lava, Crystal, I'm referring to YOU).
So that should just about do it. And to all of you who were on this trip with me, you'd better stay in touch! You're all fantastic people with so much to offer. Don't make me have to come down from Canada and do an entire U.S. tour to lay the smack down on you all...
