My name is Malayna Felix, I study zoology and I am a Western river guide. I look forward to it every year. I was looking for adventure, I was looking for something to push me outside of everything that I had ever knew before and guiding has been all of that and more. It completely changed who I am as a person and it's really fun. You get people out here that step outside themselves and they come to know a part of themselves that they have never known before and it's great watching that transformation.
I love it because I can you my degree in studying zoology. I get really excited about showing other people the foreign scenery and the geology and just getting people excited about the things that I'm excited about.
Cataract Canyon is great and it has phenomenal rapids at any water level. Phenomenal geology that just changes with every mile. It has Indian history, it has outlaw history, and the food it great. It's just a trip to spend with your family and your new friends. There are people that meet on these trips and plan future trips together. The people you meet on Western trips are often times lifelong friends.
The people you meet out here are, often times, life long friends. There are amazing things to see and using a paddleboat to raft is a fun way to do it.
