A Family Adventure Unlike Other Canned Vacations

SALT LAKE CITY (Feb. 17, 2004) – Western River Expeditions, the home of outdoor adventure for over 43 years, announces the expansion of the 2004 season schedule of trips focused on family adventure, including the Westwater Multi-Sport trip, Green River Family Adventure, the Cataract Canyon and Canyonlands trip, and the new Green River Saddles and Paddles.

“Parents and kids tell us time and time again that their experience on the river has been life-changing,” says Brandon Lake, Vice President of Marketing for Western River Expeditions. “People walk away with a new perspective on things because nature has taught them to slow down, relax and enjoy life.”

Each Western River family trip builds on the theme of an outdoor experience, with activities ranging from the extreme to the mild. To complete the family experience, a designated Fun Director shares a generous supply of games and activities for kids of all ages. Face painting, learning about unique geology and plants, and exciting beach games are but a few of the many fun choices.

New for 2004 is the Green River Saddles and Paddles, a tour for campers and non-campers alike, beginning with a restful night at the Red Cliffs Ranch on the banks of the Colorado river, and mixing horseback riding through Castle Valley, a red rock Hummer safari, 60 white water rapids, hiking trips and gourmet meals.

Families can choose between a five or six-day Green River Saddles and Paddles trip with either four or five days rafting the river. Five-day trips begin May, while the six-day trips begin June 24 as river flows begin to slow. For the five-day adventure, adults are $1,125 and youth under18 are $955. Prices for the six-day trip are adults $1,185 and youth $995. Western River trips are all-inclusive once guests arrive in the departure location. Prices include lodging, transportation between sites, meals, camping equipment and professional guides.
