Western River Unveils New Adventures and Amenities in 2004

SALT LAKE CITY (Feb. 17, 2004) – Western River Expeditions, the home of Western rafting adventures for over 43 years, announces its trips, packages and services for the 2004 season. Included in the plans are new trips like the Westwater Multisport Adventure, Cataract Canyon Sorrel River Ranch, Green River Saddles and Paddles, and new Hummer® tours including the Star Safari.

“Our 2004 season has something new for every kind of adventurer,” says Brandon Lake, Vice President of Marketing for Western River Expeditions. “All of our trips allow guests to escape the everyday while giving them the opportunity to challenge themselves and grow from the experience.”

• The Westwater Multisport Adventure is a three-day trip combining rafting excitement with the all-inclusive comfort and amenities of the Red Cliffs Ranch.

• The Cataract Canyon Sorrel River Ranch trip offers adventurers two nights in the comfort of four-diamond rooms at Sorrel River Ranch, exploring the West by horseback and Hummer®, and a four-day rafting trip down the mighty Colorado with riverside camping.

• The perfect family trip for 2004 is the Green River Saddles and Paddles five- or six-day trip where adventurers will discover the trails made famous by John Wayne by horseback and Hummer®, then take a scenic flight to a four or five-day river trip down the Green River.

• Western River Expeditions now offers expanded Hummer® tours with permits on nearly all trails. Safaris can be customized for each adventurer depending on whether they want to experience a relaxing ride or some intense off-roading.

Star Safari has been added to the 2004 line-up as well. Guests will marvel as the moonlight casts shadows across the immense sandstone landscape. Then Western’s guides will share their astronomy knowledge in describing the vast canopy of stars above. Western River is the only touring company to offer a trip devoted to witnessing the marvel of the night sky in Moab’s backcountry.

I enjoyed the breathtaking scenery and the pristine surroundings. I think Desolation Canyon is misnamed - it’s beautiful - but perhaps that name is good to keep too many people from "discovering" it. From the wonderful, eye-popping flight over the canyons, the wildlife sightings, the light on the canyon walls (especially early morning and late in the day), to the lovely campsites - it was hard to absorb so much natural beauty. The surroundings helped me to unsnarl my thoughts, relax into serenity, and remember what’s important in life. Susan - Washington DC
