“River Divas” Find Adventure and Pampering with
Western River Expeditions’ Expanded Women’s Trips
SALT LAKE CITY (Feb. 17, 2004) – Western River Expeditions,
the home of outdoor adventure for over 43 years, will be expanding
its popular series of Green
River Women’s Adventures for the 2004 season with additional
departure dates. Taking the “roughing it” out of river
running, these trips combine the experience of desert adventure
with the comforts of home including morning yoga, gourmet meals,
and massage therapy.
“The image of a bunch of gruff, burly guys, tin can meals
and moldy-smelling sleeping bags no longer applies,” says
Wendy Young, Women’s Trip Coordinator at Western River Expeditions.
“This trip removes any preconceived notions about a woman’s
strength and beauty as we experience nature on our own terms.”
Lead by Western River’s female guides, the first day of
the tour begins with a launch on the Green River and a peaceful
day of floating, swimming, sight-seeing and dinner on the banks
of Desolation Canyon. Guests wake up to morning coffee, yoga and
breakfast, followed by afternoons of guided hikes, riverside buffet
lunches and fun-filled whitewater rapids on the Green River. Each
day is made complete with gourmet meals, massage therapy, campfire
coffee and star gazing.
“What a wonderful group of guides and what great meals,
snacks, kayaking and all around fun,” says Annette Pali,
a Women’s Adventure guest from Philadelphia. “By the
second day, I knew I would be planning a return trip with other
friends soon.”
Taking the hassle out of planning the trip, all camping equipment
is provided including a new sleeping bag with freshly laundered
sheets, a sleeping cot, plastic ground cloth, small tent, silverware
and dinnerware, water-resistant gear bag for sleeping gear and
clothing, and a water-resistant dry bag for personal articles
and camera.
