Dark Canyon waterfalls
View from riverside camp at dusk

Days One and Two Glide along on smooth-flowing currents winding through Canyonlands National Park. Sculpted sandstone, isolated buttes, and red-rock castles offer unparalleled vistas for picture taking. Hike to ancient Indian ruins, pictographs, a breathtaking outlook high above the mighty Colorado, and powerful Indian Creek Falls. Capture the excitement to come with rapids before camp on the second day.

Day Three As the canyon deepens to 2,000 feet, the mood of the river changes drastically and explodes into an all-day fury of whitewater rapids! In one of the Colorado’s most notorious stretches called the "Big Drops", your raft plunges 30 feet in a matter of minutes through rapids that match those of the Grand Canyon in power and difficulty. Loosen your grip after Imperial Rapid and perhaps explore the tranquil pools and majestic falls of Dark Canyon. Relax and enjoy a night of camping where the river meets Lake Powell.

Day Four Savor a soothing morning in the sun-drenched canyons of Lake Powell. Enjoy lunch and a refreshing swim in a shady canyon cove, before bidding farewell to the mighty Colorado and your many new friends. Experience an optional scenic return flight to Moab over Canyonlands National Park.

Cataract Canyon Rafting Vacation » Guest Comments

As a local I am often asked why I don’t go on Vacation in California or Nevada. One look at some of pictures from some of our river trips (this is my third trip with Western River) and what does Disneyland or Las Vegas have to compare. Disneyland has no ride to match thrills you get when you hit white water. As for the glitter of Las Vegas, the Milky Way far out shines anything Las Vegas has to offer. The food is great and you just can beat the ambiance, Dinner served at sunset with the red rock in the back ground is quite breath taking. Will I do another river trip? The answer is yes I will.
