Rapids on the Colorado River
From the flight to the Bar 10 Ranch to the rapids on the Colorado River, this was an extraordinary adventure!
Flying with 14 friends from Boulder City Airport over the lakes, canyons, and rivers led us to the bumpy runway at the Bar 10 Ranch. We were greeted well by the staff of the ranch, and welcomed to tour the property, enjoy dinner, and jump into the double wide bunks in my own personal Conestoga-style wagon for a cool night of restful sleep outdoors.
After a hot drink and hot breakfast, we flew with five passengers down to Whitmore Wash on the shore of the Colorado River in a quick, exciting helicopter shuttle. We met with new guides, and visited with old guides just arriving, too!
Every day from then on was filled with delicious food, exciting river travels through calm waters and waves of rapids. Our hikes were one of the highlights; visiting grottos with waterfalls, and mineral springs with nearby cliff jumping thrills. This trip rates top in my experiences on the Colorado River, as I completed the 277 miles with friends and great memories! Birds, butterflies, lizards, and other various colorful creatures made each day full of new discoveries...
