A short distance from the Island in the Sky is Dead Horse Point State Park. Towering two thousand feet above the Colorado River, this park provides a unique and breath-taking panorama of the canyon country below, which has has been carved out over thousands of years by the relentless Colorado River.
When you need to cool off, Moab provides an abundance of refreshing river recreation. You can choose between a wide range of these water activities. Ranging from rafting the wild and powerful swells at Cataract Canyon, to just playing around in the more easily accessible sections of the Colorado and Green Rivers.

To round off the vast array of adventures available in the Moab area, are the La Sal Mountains. Located just south of town, the La Sals allow you to get into another ecosystem altogether. Pristine lake and pine trees provide shade cool temperatures and mountain vistas. These alpine mountains offer excellent opportunities for hiking, camping, single-track mountain biking, mountain climbing, fishing, hunting, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and sledding. These mountains are an excellent playground year-round and offer respite during warm summer months.
