Grand Canyon Whitewater Rafting

| March 7, 2018

From the first day to the last of our Grand Canyon whitewater rafting, this trip exceeded our expectations. The rapids were exhilarating, the food was great, our guides were fantastic, and the scenery along the way and at each camp in the evening was awe inspiring. We've been home over a week and the canyon still rattles around in our minds and we miss the friends we made.

Our guides, Stephen, RD, Travis, and Emily were fun, professional, and knocked themselves out to see that we all had a great trip. The emphasis on safety, geology lessons on the river, the preparation for the rapids, the skillful guiding of the J-rig raft, side hikes, the stories and prep for the next day in camp, AND, the guitar playing and singing bonus under the stars by Stephen and Travis were all highlights. We were looking forward to a hot shower at the end of the trip, but other than that, we hated to see it end.

A couple of tips for anyone considering taking the trip:

1. Pack everything they tell you to bring. You'll need it all!

2. Move around and sit in all areas of the boat. Every spot has it's own rewards.

3. Sleep under the stars. It's an amazing show.

Thank you, Western Rivers, Stephen, RD, Travis and Emily for an unforgettable vacation in one of the Seven Wonders of the World!

Great Rafting Trip

| March 6, 2018

Wow! What a great rafting trip! Western River Expeditions made this a real first class experience. The organization, planning, equipment, training and provisioning provided the basis for a tour that was guided by men who were highly competent, patient, fun, educational as well as great cooks.

We felt totally drenched by the time we finished, not just by the rapids, but with information and experiences that we'll remember always. Well, maybe not ALL the information. We started the trip with a group of strangers from literally around the world who soon became friends sharing the same experience.

Best Family Week EVER!

| March 6, 2018

Our best family vacation ever was this week spent in the Grand Canyon!

I don't want to spoil any surprises so let me just share a few tips:

* If you are told to do something or bring something, DO IT! Don't second guess the experts!

* You'll not likely meet such passionate, professional, accomplished guides anywhere else. They are living the life they love and busting their backsides to give you the trip of a lifetime. Get to know them.

* Get to know your fellow travelers. They have neat backstories. Boring people don't run rivers.

* Go with the flow. No one cares, no one is watching. No one judges. Bodily functions are natural and normal.

* Enjoy it! YOLO.

* Tell all your family and friends you are now part of an elite fraternity.

Wow to Double Wow – Best White Water Rafting

| March 3, 2018

I first visited the South Rim of the Grand Canyon last October with a former girlfriend; after spending a couple days walking the rim and hiking down Bright Angel Trail to the first rest stop, I decided I wanted to raft the Colorado River, with or without the girlfriend. Solo, I booked the 4 day ranch/canyon trip shortly after returning from the South Rim. (She doesn't know what she missed!!!!). The Bar 10 Ranch was fun, especially the horseback riding for this city boy, but it was only a warm-up for the real show.

The helicopter ride into the Grand Canyon was like riding one of those horses again, only this time the horse had wings!! Then the landing and meeting your fellow adventurers (some of whom I had met at the Las Vegas hotel, and the Bar 10 Ranch) followed, then the glorious trip really began. Aside from recounting the scenery of the canyon, the thrill of the rapids, the fun jump from Pumpkin Rock, the Travertine Grotto climb, and the great food, what really made the trip was the camaraderie that was quickly established among our fellow travelers, that's why I uploaded a picture from a lunch break with some of the group in blessed shade, as it was hot, hot, hot. (Anyone can upload a stunningly beautiful picture of the Grand Canyon!!)

The camping was a little more rugged than I expected but our guides, Evan and Shad, handled everything smoothly. That was some cold water to bathe in!!!!!!!

I'll be back for the best white water rafting again!!
