Main Salmon Rafting Itinerary

DAY 1 & 2 » Deep in the splendor of an alpine canyon, your adventure begins. Moderate rapids such as Kill um, Rainier and Devil’s Tooth will get you ready for the more challenging rapids that lie downstream. Stop at Barth Hot Springs, one of the best hot spring pools on the entire river. Relaxing time on the river and at camp gives time to absorb the splendor of the surrounding mountain wilderness.

DAY 3 - 5 » Through a mile deep, heavily-forested canyon, you’ll run Salmon Falls, Big Mallard, Elk Horn and several other exciting rapids. Explore Campbell’s Ferry Ghost Town and Buckskin Bills Compound. Lower in the canyon, thick forest gives way to steep granite cliffs. Large sandy beaches and glass-like pools provide favorite play spots for swimming and beach volleyball. Top off your final day with two of the largest rapids on the trip – Chittam and Vinegar Creek. After lunch, you’ll enjoy a scenic ride to the resort town of McCall Idaho.

Pre-Trip Travel Information

Guests on the Main Salmon Trip have the option to meet in Salmon, Idaho themselves, or to purchase the complete travel package ($465 person) and just meet in Boise.

Travel Package Guests
Guests purchasing the Boise Idaho Travel Package will need to make travel arrangements to arrive in Boise by 6:00 PM the NIGHT PRIOR to your trip departure date. When you arrive at the Boise Airport you will catch a complimentary shuttle to the Vista Inn. Travel Package guests will meet on the lawn at the back of the hotel at 7:30 pm the night prior to the trip departure date where your guides will meet you for an orientation meeting.

A continental breakfast will be available at 5:00 AM the morning of your trip departure date. You will meet at 5:30 AM to be transported to the Boise Airoport for a charter flight to Salmon, Idaho where you will begin your first day of rafting adventure.

Non-Travel Package Guests
If you are meeting us in Salmon, Idaho where the trip begins, you will need to be in Salmon the night prior to the trips departure. You can stay at the Stagecoach Inn in Salmon. You will meet at 7:30 pm the evening prior to the trip departure with the guides and have a brief orientation meeting.

How to Get to Salmon
You can fly into Salmon, Idaho via the Boise, Idaho airport. Check online for flight times and dates.

Where and When to Meet
Meet at the hotel (either Vista Inn in Boise or Stagecoach Inn in Salmon) at 7:30 PM the evening prior to the trip departure.

Post-Trip Travel Information

On our last day on the Main Salmon we run rapids until we reach Carey Creek take-out. After a hearty farewell lunch, trip participants will travel by bus to McCall, Idaho. At the conclusion of the trip, guests will stay in McCall, Idaho one night before returning to the Boise airport the following morning by 12:30 PM. Vehicles can be shuttled from Salmon to McCall for $285 plus $50 for gas. You will recieve reciepts and any change. Charter flights are also available.
