The Lower Salmon River rafting trip explores the final miles of the Salmon River before it joins the mighty Snake River on its way to the Columbia. 74 miles total, threading through four stunning canyons named Green, Cougar, Snowhole, and Blue. Class II–III rapids keep the ride exciting without overwhelming, warm water and sweeping sandy beaches make every camp feel like a reward, and the remote canyon walls rising above you are a reminder that this corner of Idaho is still wild in all the right ways.
The Family Magic departure is unlike anything else on the Lower Salmon, and unlike anything else in Idaho. Each trip is staffed with a dedicated, specially trained children's guide whose sole focus is your kids: nature hikes, river games, wildlife spotting, and hands-on activities that bring the canyon to life for young adventurers. The Lower Salmon offers the opportunity to paddle your own inflatable kayak, enjoy the excitement of a paddle raft, or ride aboard a comfortable
oar rig piloted by your skilled guides.
We call it luxury camping. In order to make your trip run as smoothly and comfortably as possible, we use a cargo raft to carry camping gear, food and supplies ahead of the main group. This allows our smaller rafts to be lighter and more maneuverable, which makes for a safer ride with more bounce and splash. The cargo boat crew arrives at camp early to setup the kitchen and tents.
The experience was absolutely unique and to quote my teenage sons, 'totally awesome.' We learned, were thrilled with the whitewater, made new friends, ate like kings, and most importantly, totally relaxed.
