Itinerary

DAY 1 » Check in at Sorrel River Ranch Resort any time after 3:00 PM. Stretch out in the warmth of the sun by the riverside pool or curl up with a good book on your old-fashioned log bed. Top off your first day with an award-winning dinner at the Sorrel River Grill Restaurant (dinner voucher provided upon check-in).

DAY 2 » No postcard can possibly portray the splendor of wondrous Castle Valley where you’ll enjoy the area made famous by movies such as City Slickers and Mission Impossible. Relish an uninterrupted morning and afternoon to enjoy the resort, treat yourself to a massage at the Sorrel River Spa, or take an optional horseback ride (not included). Early in the evening, you'll meet at Western River’s Moab Adventure Center for a group dinner followed by a sunset Hummer Safari filled with breathtaking views backed by the lofty La Sal Mountains.

DAYS 3 - 5 » After breakfast at the ranch, you’ll meet at Western River Expeditions’ Moab Adventure Center at 7:30 AM for your 4-day, 3-night Cataract Canyon adventure. After a short drive to the river’s edge, your Colorado River journey through Canyonlands National Park begins. Here, memories of ancient cultures create powerful reflections of lives once lived. Towering sandstone cliffs and astounding geologic formations stir the soul and spirit. Beyond the beauty, the mighty power and exhilaration of the Colorado River provides unbridled excitement with over 30 world-class rapids. Throughout every day of your trip, Western’s incredible guides will prepare delicious meals for you. Every night you’ll fall asleep to the sounds of the Colorado River as you count endless shooting stars in the sky.

DAY 6 » After reaching Lake Powell by early afternoon, you’ll climb aboard a Cessna 5-7 seat aircraft and experience a spectacular 1-hour scenic return flight over Canyonlands National Park and back to Moab, Utah (arriving approximately 3:00 PM). If you don’t choose the included scenic return flight, you may have your car shuttled to the ending point of your trip where you may continue elsewhere or return to Moab on your own (3.5 hr drive).

Pre-Trip Travel Information

Beginning in the quaint town of Moab, Utah this trip offers plenty of opportunity for additional activities, shopping, dining and relaxing. Schedule a few days before or after your trip to explore downtown Moab, Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, and participate in some unforgettable Moab adventures such as a canyoneering or mountain biking. At any time before departure, Western can add to your itinerary additional activities, airport shuttle, and jeep rental. Simply give us a call and we’ll arrange everything for you.

Where and When to Meet
Check into Sorrel River Ranch Resort any time after 3:00 PM. The ranch is located about 25 minutes outside of downtown Moab on Highway 128 at Mile 17.

Travel Tips
Because Sorrel River Ranch is located in a secluded location 17 miles outside of downtown Moab, you will need a vehicle the first 2 days of your trip. If you're planning on flying directly to Moab and will not have a vehicle, we can arrange an aiport transfer into town and a Jeep Rental during your 2-day ranch stay.

How to Get to Moab
If you’re flying, the following options are generally the most common:

» Fly directly to Moab, Utah (CNY)
and get a shuttle into town or rent a Jeep

» Fly to Grand Junction, Colorado (GJT)
and rent a car (1.5 hour drive)

» Fly to Salt Lake City, Utah (SLC)
and rent a car (4 hour drive)

Post-Trip Travel Information

You will likely want to reserve at least one night of lodging on the final day of your trip as you’ll return to Moab around 3:00 PM. If you will be traveling on but wish to shower before leaving Moab, we can direct you to several locations in town that offer shower facilities.

My daughter and I spent two days at the Sorrel River Ranch and the scenery and horseback riding was wonderful! Then on to the rafting! Our guides were just awesome. They were the most pleasant and entertaining people and boy could they cook!!! The food was fantastic. We had a really great group also. It was just a fantastic trip and one I would love to repeat. I can't say enough about the experience, background and friendliness of our guides. Thank you for a truly memorable experience!
