Colorado River Trip
We had fun, excitement and one long night (that will always be remembered) on a Colorado River Trip.
Our family went on the 4-day ranch and river trip. The Bar 10 Ranch was great fun. Our 9 and 11 year old kids loved the horseback riding, skeet shooting and sleeping in a covered wagon. Our 9-year old son said he wants to spend a week at the Bar 10 Ranch. The ranch hosts were fantastic -- friendly, informative and accommodating.
The Colorado River was spectacular. Our trip started with an unbelievable helicopter ride to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. The ride and views were spectacular. The first day and night on the river were peaceful and beautiful. The rapids were great and sleeping under the stars is something everyone should experience. The second day on the river was filled with rapids, jumping from a cliff and hiking to a waterfall. We saw parts of the canyon and river that are not accessible to other people.
The second night was the long night. At around 11:00PM it started to rain. Fortunately, we had THE BEST GUIDES EVER. They kept watch of the storm and when necessary, moved people and tents around to get them out of the way of potential flash flood areas. Sure enough, the rain got heavier and by 3.00AM, there was a flash flood. As mentioned, the guides were the best ever; they kept cool heads and with the help of the other passengers, everyone was safe by morning time. At the time, it was a scary event, especially for our kids, but now, after it is over and everyone is safe, it is a great memory and a great lesson how people working together can help each other and get through hard times safely.
