Family Adventure
My 66 year old father asked me to accompany him on what he described as a "Once In a Lifetime Trip", a family adventure! He believed the experience would strengthen our bond and that we would have priceless memories to share with family and friends. I must admit that I was quite hesitant at first for a variety of reasons: I am not the outdoor type person, I dislike the heat, I have a fear of small planes and helicopters, I'm not a great swimmer, I've never been camping or hiking and lastly, I'm a picky eater, so I wondered about the food choices since the food would be prepared outdoors.
My anxiety level was at an all time high the first day of the trip. My fear slowly changed to excitement during the course of the trip. I conquered so many fears including flying on a helicopter, shooting a rifle at the Bar 10 Ranch, sleeping outside, setting up tents and rafting. Our guides, Lukte, Scott, Keifer and Macai were the absolute best. They knew I was afraid and went out of their way to make sure I was alright. They are so knowledgeable able the history of the Grand Canyon and their stories were so delightful. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic. I am still amazed about the views...PRICELESS!
Not only did I have an awesome time, but I made great friends. I'm now in the process of planning a 2018 trip with family and friends. It's so hard to describe everything, so I want them to experience it. Western River Expeditions provided exceptional service, they exceeded my expectations and I can't wait to return to the river.
