Relaxing – Grand Canyon Tours

5

| June 8, 2013

Having never camped or been on a river, I was a bit concerned about whitewater rafting in the Grand Canyon, but with Western River Expeditions, everything is thoroughly thought out and the equipment - tents & cots - were so EASY to assemble!

The food was excellent, healthy, & plentiful.

We got up with the sun and went to bed when it set (after a delicious meal), and we were ready to go to bed!

Taking in the Grand Canyon leaves one refreshingly relaxed :)

Our guides - Mark, Jeff, Wren & Ronnie made a good trip a GREAT trip!

My only surprise was the amount of sand - yes, sand. I expected rock and gravel and dirt, but sand is at the base of the canyon all along the Colorado River, and so we camped on the beaches :)

Also, inside the canyon looks very different from the rim -- I don't think the colors we saw were as vivid, but what joy to wake up in such an amazing place!

Oh, the long-sleeved UVA shirts are excellent for being in the sun all day, and I was impressed that the guides set the example and were usually wearing long sleeves, hats, hoodies, etc. - sun protection!  Quick-dry clothing items were also key to comfort :)
