WOW – What a Great Colorado River Adventure!!!

I have just completed the 7 day/6 night 188 mile river trip on the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon and I would need a huge number of words just to begin to describe how good the trip was. From the initial inquiry to the final drop off back at my hotel in Vegas it was a great and fantastically organised trip.

Our Western River guides RD and Jonny were great - knowledgeable, safety conscious, helpful, friendly, funny are just a few of many words that could be used to describe their commitment and enthusiasm for their profession and the Grand Canyon.

I have a slight nut allergy and from the moment of the first meal when they double checked any dietary requirements they were extra careful to make sure I did not get any nuts (even excluding them from certain meals where they were planned) and always offered an alternative where necessary. The meals were amazing, especially when everything is on the raft from Day 1. Fresh meat, vegetables and fruit every day, even freshly baked cake on several occasions and ice cream on Day 5.

I had a small accident within an hour of starting the trip resulting in a cut eyebrow and the response from the guides was immediate and extremely proficient. They monitored it throughout the trip checking it several times a day to ensure it was clean and healing.

The trip included everything I wanted from rapids, relaxation, some hiking, making new friends, camping and experiencing the Canyon. There is no contact with the outside world and I also took my watch off as soon as we got to the start point and just went with the flow - definitely the best way.

If you are thinking of doing this whitewater adventure, stop thinking and do – it was amazing. It was supposed to be one of those once in a lifetime experiences but I will be back for more.
