Family Westwater White Water Rafting Trip in Moab

First of all, I selected Western River Expeditions on a recommendation from good friends (Juliette and Noel) that rafted with them a couple years ago. They said the trip would be amazing and they were absolutely correct!
Our trip included my wife Katherine, daughter Claira, son Gabriel and me. It was part of Katherine's 50th B-Day present trip to UT. This was Claira and Gabriel's first time rafting ever and Katherine's first time on true white water. They were both excited and nervous.
For me, my nervousness only came from making sure this was going to be a trip that knocked our socks off. The drive to the drop off follows much of the river and I hoped we wouldn't be rafting the areas we could see. Once we got there it was obvious that we were going into a section of the river that was desolate and wild. Steep canyons, big water and lots of history too.
Our guide was Grant and we also made new friends Mike, Ian, Peter, Charlie and Nicole. We had a great boat with immediate chemistry. When the time came for possible boat substitutions...Grant kept us intact!
Meeting everyone, getting started, swimming the initial rapids, lunch were all great...but the rapids in the 2nd half of the trip were amazing! What a thrill and adventure! In such a short time, Grant had us prepared to handle the tough ones very well.
Lots of laughs, comradery and new friends. It was one of the highlights of our entire trip to UT. Thank you very much to the entire team we had from WRE, you made it a day we will never forget. We recommend this trip to everyone.
Only wish we had brought a waterproof camera to get some shots...next time!
