Autoimmune Disorder and Allergies
Rated 4.9 out of 5 based on 2289 customer reviews
I have multiple autoimmune diseases, one affecting my heart and another affecting my stomach as well as I have an allergy to gluten and dairy. I spent the year leading up to this trip flip-flopping every day on whether I would or would not go. I am not a person who can be out in the sun very long I get very sick and in the past to much strenuous activity had landed me in the hospital. But I also knew that this was a once in a life time opportunity that I couldn't let go. So I went! And I brought many gluten-free, dairy-free snacks and enough electrolytes to last me a year. I did not touch my snacks as the food was excellent and accommodating. I have never felt more included food-wise in my life! My guides were amazing and never made me feel guilty. They made enough gf df food that the whole camp could eat it with me if they wanted.
Just about every guide on my trip was dating or married to someone with a gluten allergy it was shocking. I was convinced I would be glued to the boat or beach during the hikes, but to my surprise, I went on all but one. Hike is a loose term; they were beautiful walks. I dunked my hat in the water to stay calm and took every chance I could! As well as downing enough water each day that I think I almost drowned on the boat. I did have to spend some serious quality time with the back of the boat as a result... but yet again, the guides were saints, and just let me know when it was safe. Sorry for the rambling; overall, this trip was amazing, hot but amazing. And if you're lucky enough to get Lucky, Skinny, Bridger, and, Shelby as your guides, know you're in for an amazing trip.
