I am a "fraidy cat" who would have opted out of this trip if given the chance. My husband and friends were so excited about going that I was unable to get out of it. Boy, am I glad! It was an experience of a lifetime. Of course, the scenery was gorgeous... that goes without saying but the staff and the J-rig boats made it fun and took away the "scared factor." I started in the "Chicken coop," progressed to the Princess Bench and finally made it to the pontoons... loving each step of the way. Through one of the more rigorous rapids, Daniel, our guide, sat behind me to make sure that I was OK... and I was! Daniel was also a fountain of knowledge about the history and geology of the canyon/ His readings of poetry and stories helped to enlighten us and increase our appreciation of what we were seeing. The food was wonderful and plentiful. The only thing missing was real toilets and hot showers!
