We arrived a day early to have time to see San Jose and that proved to be a great decision. Such a lovely and historical city. We loved staying at the Grano de Oro. The rafting portion of the trip was pleasant and very enjoyable with excellent guides. The Pacuare Lodge was a total surprise. The spacious cabins had a large veranda size front porch with a hammock and patio furniture. I particularly loved the rock walled outdoor shower. The king size bed was comfortable with elegant linens. I was amazed at the large size of the cabin set right in the forest with sloths and toucans all around.We enjoyed the canopy tour and a guided bird watching tour. The dining options were delicious and very gourmet. All the drivers were on time and spoke excellent English. Next stop was Tabacon and I must admit after 4 hours of driving, a shower and fresh clothes was much appreciated. This place is paradise. Shangri La is the private access for hotel guests to the hot mineral water falls. We spent an afternoon in a cabana with mojitos and lunch served to us while enjoying the hot water falls. Then a long drive to the Pacific coast to Hotel Parador and yet another outstanding location. This hotel sits on top of a rock mountain with unbelievable views of the blue water and coastal rocks. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The guided park tour was interesting and enjoyable. We did not want to leave Costa Rica. For our last afternoon we boarded a catamaran for a snorkeling trip with dinner and sunset views. Excellent staff and I highly recommend the outing offered thru Iguana Tours. This was a perfect vacation with just the right amount of adventure and relaxation and with excellent attention to all the details. Thank you Western River for introducing me to this trip.
