My Granddaughter's Transformation on Desolation Canyon

One photo doesn't describe the whole story, so here goes. We took our 8-year-old granddaughter, Eleanore, on this trip. We thought it would be a great experience to be away from her parents, and also live life without devices.
Having mixed emotions of excitement and anxiety, Eleanore was initially grumpy as we boarded the raft (we have the picture to prove it). Eventually, she warmed up to the other kids on the trip and was soon having fun with tadpoles, and mudpies and wading in the river. She even worked up the courage to ride on one of the duckies for one afternoon and loved it.
The picture we are sharing is the final one of the trip. As we boarded the shuttle back to the hotel, she all of a sudden wanted one final picture with our three guides - Brooke, Garrett, and Ian. She had so much fun and fell in love with all three guides. She wanted this final photo as a keepsake of her trip.
We feel so privileged to have watched our granddaughter blossom from shy and unsure, to fun and confident. As we started our drive back home from Moab, she mentioned how sad it was going to be not to sleep that evening outdoors and watch the stars.
We are so glad we invested the time and money to create such wonderful memories for her and ourselves, too.
