Great Time in the Grand Canyon
Rated 4.9 out of 5 based on 2289 customer reviews
The Grand Canyon is certainly a beautiful and rugged place, but our Western River trip was like a floating resort through 7 days of one of the world's natural wonders. The guides were a wealth of knowledge of the canyon, including navigation, history and geology and were incredibly helpful and hardworking to make the trip possible for their guests. And, if you are lucky enough to get Scott Place as a guide, you may even get a private concert in the world's largest natural amphitheater!
The J-Rig boats are spacious and comfortable and give you the option of taking the wild and wet ride in the front or the less jarring and drier position in the back. The trip is spaced out nicely so that you get a good balance of boat time, side-adventure time and camp time. The days are action packed and sleep comes easy on the cots provided!
Going into the trip, I had heard the food was good, but my expectations were far exceeded. I'm used to freeze-dried or cold meals during backcountry overnight trips, but we were treated with an assortment of hot food for breakfast and dinner and sandwich bars for lunch. The dinners are three course with an appetizer, main course and dessert. Nobody left the trip hungry, that's for sure!
For those seeking a quick and comfortable way to see the inner canyon, I highly recommend Western River Expeditions. It was a trip of a lifetime!
