When my husband asked me to marry him, I told him I didn’t want a diamond, I wanted an experience. He delivered when he accepted an invitation from Boyd Luke to join a chartered Western River Expedition through the Grand Canyon. From the beginning at Lee’s Ferry to being helicoptered out of the canyon to the Bar 10 Ranch, every day was a feast of unbelievably great food, majestic scenery, a cooling and fast-flowing river, and hikes to clear pools and waterfalls, and always an adventure through rapids.
Our crew was exceptional as they cooked and served delicious meals - which were totally unlike anything I’ve ever served on a camping trip! Eggs Benedict, blueberry pancakes, steak, trout (who does this camping anyway?) Being a more seasoned adult in my 70s, I felt I had guardian angels with me on the hikes with help from Tyler, Joe, Skinny, and Cooper, while LuLu gave help and encouragement.
The highest accolades I could possibly give go to the above named skilled and extra hard working guides; their expertise and friendly demeanors were a huge part of the fun and comfort we had on our expedition with them. We knew many in our group before we started our trip and left with 2 boatloads of new friends we plan to keep in touch with.
I HIGHLY recommend Western River Expeditions as the perfect way to experience the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon, especially if you’re lucky enough to request our top notch crew of Joe, Tyler, Skinny and LuLu. THANKS GUYS! #betterthanadiamond
