Our trip through the Grand Canyon with Western River Expeditions exceeded our expectations in so many ways. First, the setting is amazing, whether during the day as the river and the canyon walls constantly change, or at 2 in the morning when the sky is filled with stars and the milky way. Second, the fun of heating up in the sun and cooling down in the rapids while learning about the river and its history from well versed guides. And third, the incredible organization of the trip leaders who provide excellent food, interesting side hikes, well-planned camping despite having to bring everything with them and take it all back out, and great equipment. While we were skeptical about being on a motorized craft, the advantage was being able to cover a lot of ground (180 miles in 6 days), options as to how wet you wanted to get, and the ability for larger groups to travel together.
