This was one of the most deeply relaxing and, at the same time, exciting trips we’ve ever taken. We were on the first trip of the spring/summer of 2009 when the river was still high. The views evoked constant "oohs and aahs" for their beauty and magnificence, the company was convivial, the rapids at the end somewhat terrifying and the guides took good care of us and kept us entertained. There were side hikes from our stops for lunch or for the night that showed us the wildness of the rocky desert formations beyond the river. The trip back to Moab via airplane was almost as good as the rafting trip itself as we were able to see from the air the topography surrounding the river we had just been on. On the river, we couldn’t see beyond the surrounding cliffs. From the air, the landscape was as breathtaking as on the river, as we saw the entire pattern from above. We returned from the trip feeling mellow and enriched and wanting more.
