What better way to help you understand why rafting in Grand Canyon is worth doing, than to let one of our former guests share why they think Western River’s Grand Canyon rafting trips are one of the best places for family vacations ever?
Here’s what our guest has to say to any of you wondering if you should go rafting in Grand Canyon:
"Gosh, where to begin… I am a previous rafter with Western River Expeditions. Our group (28 people, ages 13 – 75) took the 6-day ‘trip of a lifetime’ in summer ’08. I and 27 others, are booking for summer 2011, making TWO ‘trips of a lifetime’! Needless to say, I would not re-book if the experience had been anything less than spectacular and incredible in every sense of the word.
Keys to Success for our group:
1. Safety – the Captains and Swampers (the crew) emphasized with meticulous detail the importance of safety, on and off the raft.
2. Comfort – we were so well cared for it’s embarrassing, yet never felt the crew was ‘in our face’ with directions – everyday was a new experience, and it was clear there was precision behind the scenes on the part of the crew.
3. Teamwork – everyday is another opportunity to build a bond with people that goes beyond believability – we depended on one another in so many ways, from unloading and loading the rafts each day to a buddy system to keep ourselves accountable and encouragement to ‘ride shot gun’ through the rapids!
4. Fun – the crew had a unique ability to bring out the fun in just about everything, from a frightened child to the incredible beauty of the inner canyon – a sight very few will ever see. In addition to safety, their job is to ensure you and your fellow rafters have an enjoyable experience. (you’ll likely call it by many other superlatives once you’ve experienced it)
All-in-all, if you and your group are considering this investment of time, money and adventure, these were the exact words I shared with my friend who invited me on the 2008 trip (and this was within the first 10 miles of the trip): “Had I known it was like this, I would have paid double, it is worth every penny” And that was stated after just two or three riffles and a small rapid down the river, we hadn’t even experienced our first fabulous dinner or sleeping under the stars.
If you choose to take the trip, you will join a small group of humans that have journeyed 188 miles down the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon.

Yup, that sums it up for now. Thanks Cynthia!
