An “Out of This World” Experience in the Grand Canyon

I've been to two places that I consider "out of this world": Venice, where you leave cars behind and rely on water transport, and where you forget what modernity looks and feels like, and now the floor of the Grand Canyon. My three traveling companions and I, along with twenty-four new friends and four fabulous guides, left the modern world behind to surround ourselves with billion year old walls, the Colorado River below us and clear blue sky above - and no cars, cell phones, watches, electricity or mattresses. And we loved it! One thing we didn't leave behind was good food. Every day we marveled at the variety of wonderful food we were served by our guides, and at the freshness of every ingredient. We even had perfectly frozen ice cream on day 4!
We are planning to return for a three day trip in 2015 when our grand daughter and daughters are old enough for a Grand Canyon adventure. Once is just not enough!
