Cataract Canyon Classic – A Vacation To Remember
My dad, brother and I went on the 4 day 3 night Cataract Canyon trip hosted by Western River Expeditions in honor of my dad's 60th birthday, and let me just say it was quite the adventure! We started our journey just south of Moab, Utah where the Colorado River and Green Rivers meet in a majestic setting called "The Confluence." It was here that Cataract Canyon began. The first two days we spent in absolute relaxation on calm stretches of river that wound through soul-stirring canyons and dazzling geologic formations. It was here we went on some fantastic hikes and explored ancient Native American ruins and fascinating pictographs. The third day we spent all day on the water with white knuckles trying to survive the level 5 rapids we reached. It was a blast and all three of us agreed it was our favorite day of the trip besides sleeping out under the stars on our cots. Then we finished our adventure with a stunning flight over Canyonlands National Park as we returned to Moab via Cessna's. Our guides Nick, Steve, Hailey, and Tex were totally awesome and made some of the most delicious food, which to be honest I didn't think was possible in the middle of nowhere, but they proved nothing is impossible. Now, I'm saving my money in hopes of doing the 7 day Grand Canyon rafting trip in oh, lets say in about 2-3 years time. Below is a picture of our rafts.
