So the Salmon River Canyons is all about sandy beaches, frolicky whitewater and spectacular camping. So if you have little kids this is the environment to bring them to. It’s kind of big splashy fun rapids the kids can take on and the water is really good for swimming because it’s in the 70’s usually. We also have a jester on our trips so you have kind of a built-in babysitter. It’s someone to entertain the kids and have lots of fun activities for them.
We got to play Uno, we got to make survival bracelets, we got to go swimming. I liked to sleep and feel the breeze on my head when I’m sleeping at night. I woke up and it wa probably about three or four in the morning and I saw the Milky Way like I had never seen it before and I didn’t want to go back to sleep. I wanted to watch it for hours.
The guides are fantastic. They’re interesting, they’re engaging, they tell good stories, they’re super personable, and at the same time they know the river. There was never a moment that I was worried for one second about my kids.
I think he and I got closer. We go on vacation every year but this is a different kind of vacation. This was challenging enough that we feel like we accomplished something. I’m going to learn how to not go on the computer so much and be outside. I thought the trip was amazing, awesome, and fun.
Nothing speaks more than when people come back and do it again. I thought it was the perfect way to getaway and spend a really really high quality week with my daughters.
