The Middle Fork of the Salmon River? Why is it special? There is no other river as diverse mile by mile, quarter by quarter, rapid by rapid. There are very few places left in the United States that have the opportunity for a six-day hundred-mile trek through the middle of nowhere. It’s different everyday and that is kind of the beauty of being a river guide.
Every time I come out to the river it’s like therapy. This is a trip of a lifetime and it brings people closer to each other, it brings people closer to themselves and that’s just the nature of it. The food was honestly the best food I’ve had as a college student all summer. You can sleep outside and see the stars and that’s pretty cool.
The Middle Fork also has some of the most incredible hot springs I’ve ever seen. The guides were very good, they anticipated everyone’s needs and they worked hard to make sure everybody had a good time. They don’t huff about anything, it’s just everything is positive.
I don’t think there is a better trip that you can do with a family as an introduction or orientation to being out in nature because everything is so comfortable but the surroundings are so awesome. It’s spectacular, majestic, and relaxing.
This was fantastic, I would never consider myself a person who would enjoy something like this. I’ve never gone camping before. I’ve never gone down a river before but I’ve enjoyed every facet of this trip and I would love to do this again.
There is a heart to this river for sure and you can’t be here and be unchanged.
