My mom has planned this trip and I have had tons of fun. It just seemed like the right fit for our family. We would get the opportunity to take a small airplane ride. All of our meals would be provided. We're not true campers, this isn't something we do every weekend. So we're newbies to the outdoors. We would get an opportunity to take a helicopter ride, which none of my children have ever done.
I'll probably tell all of my friends about the different things that I've done. Like how we did everyday things but differently, how we used the bathroom, how we showered in the lake. I will also tell them of all the fun experiences I've had here with my family.
It just shows my kids that they can step outside their comfort zone. As a mother you're always trying to teach your kids that they have so much within them.
My favorite part was white water rafting and being right up front.
My favorite part in the canyon was probably the Grotto. It was beautiful. Climbing the ropes and the ladders to see the waterfall was really cool and adventurous and fun. I also enjoyed jumping off the cliff at Pumpkin Springs.
You never know what is going to inspire your kids or what they're going to be called to. I told the kids, "You are so lucky to be seeing this now". I want my children to have no fear of walking outside of their backyard getting on a plane or train and exploring another part of the country.
I have had a lot of fun with my family. We spent a lot of time together - like playing cards at night and eating and camping out and that kind of stuff. It was a great experience.
The guides are awesome. They're really funny and nice. They keep you safe, but in a fun way.
The guides were great, they cooked really good food. I'm impressed with what they can cook here in the middle of the Grand Canyon. They knew what they were talking about and they informed me a lot about the canyon. They just made you feel welcomed.
The guides really seemed like they wanted to take the time to get to know the families and to tell you a little about themselves. I would just really encourage families to schedule the time, we're all busy and you think you don't or won't be able to take a week, it's too long and it's too much work. There is nothing like investing in your family and this is an investment. It is just building such good memories.
I get emotional when I talk about my kids because you realize as they get older that time is so short. The days are very long like on the river but the years are very short. What I think is great for busy families is to plan a trip like this. Then just disconnect from the world so you can reconnect with your family.
