The Best Wedding Anniversary Trip Ever!
Husband: This is our 34th wedding anniversary so we wanted some special time together.
Wife: Al's idea of traveling isn't always the typical idea of traveling.
Husband: My wife is not a big camper.
Wife: My husband drug me. He told me one day that we booked a trip so I was like, "Are you serious?" I just kind of went along with it. Some people I talked to just thought it would be the best opportunity ever and others thought we were nuts. My idea of camping back home is using my sister's trailer with a microwave and a TV set in it. That is about as much camping as I've done. But it has been wonderful. That first night sky, I have never seen the Milky Way, it is just awe-consuming. It just kind of puts everything in perspective in your life. It was awesome. I never thought taking a bath in the river could be so wonderful, but a bar of soap in that river was the best feeling ever!
Husband: This is just an absolutely beautiful trip. The food is great, the equipment is great and easy to use. They just make it really simple so even if you've never camped before it's enjoyable. If you've camped before you'll love it too. The Bar Ten Ranch experience was fantastic, it is a great addition to river rafting; between four-wheeling, horseback riding, skeet shooting, ping-pong, volleyball, seeing the sun go down over the rim. We had only flown in a helicopter one time. I was afraid of getting motion sickness, no worries! It is short and it's sweet but it is exhilarating! I had my GoPro going the whole time and it was exciting.
Wife: I loved the rapids, I was really nervous about the rapids and Al kept telling me that we're on the easier end of the river. After going through the first set of rapids I was like, "When do we get to do that again?" I really liked the rapids. I was surprised at how dry you could stay if you wanted to, or how wet you could get if you wanted to get right down into the water on the tubes. It was very comfortable, you can move around. It is all very safe and it was a lot of fun.
Husband: Travertine Falls was just absolutely beautiful. The guides helped us get up into the falls. The water was clear, it was comfortable and was really neat.
Wife: The guides worked their butts off. They're awesome and they're so knowledgable. They go from early morning and when I say early morning, they're up at like 4:30 in the morning getting things rolling for the day for us to make it perfect. They're so friendly and so knowledgable along the river.
Husband: The whole experience put together makes it a complete package. Between the airfare coming from Las Vegas to Bar Ten Ranch, the helicopter ride from Bar Ten down to the river when you put it all together there isn't much that can match this. My phone rings all the time at work and I haven't heard it ring for four full days, so it's fantastic.
Wife: We've been married for 34 years and we have a busy life at home with four kids that are married and seven grandkids. Life keeps us very busy. We go away and we say we're going to disconnect but we don't. Our phones are always on and someone has a last minute something they want to tell us. This way there is no choice, we're out here on our own and it was just really nice. I'm sure we'll be doing this again.
