Mile 131.5 - Dubendorff Rapids
One of the most technically challenging of the entire canyon, this rapid contains many boulders and steep holes. Seymour Sylvester Dubendorff, after watching his friends Nathaniel Galloway and Julius Stone run the rapid, entered to the right where his boat was immediately capsized. Dubendorff banged his head and twisted his ankle during his long swim through the boulder strewn cataract. His wooden boat also took a beating, but was brought back in good order with minor repair work.
