Mile 111 - Hakatai Rapid

Hakatai, the Havasupai word for Colorado River, is a medium sized rapid with beautiful rolling waves. William Bass, along with John Waltenberg, developed an asbestos mine within Hakatai Canyon. In addition to the cable crossing at Mile 108.5, Bass had a cable spanning the river at Hakatai so that he could reach the asbestos mine.
