3 Days of Fun for Everyone!
We just got back from the 3 day Rogue River Rafting Trip. There were 6 of us in our family that participated. My mom and dad who are in their 60s (out of shape and nervous about adventure), my children (9 yrs and 13 yrs), my husband (athletic and adventurous) and myself (excited about adventure, but not an extremist). This trip was perfect and fun for all of us!
There were three boats that we could choose from to custom our individual level of fun! My parents and youngest son mostly traveled in the princess boat where our guide (Lenore) paddled for everyone the whole time. The rest of us took turns between the paddle boat and the single, inflatable kayak.
Each day on the river we were well taken care of with delicious food, cold fresh water and portable bathrooms. Our guide (Aylan) was a wealth of knowledge about the geological features we were encountering and we always felt completely prepared for hard rapids as we were lead through with instruction. We spotted 50 turtles, 2 river otters, minks, eagles, mergansers, newts, snakes, and billions of butterflies. I was disappointed to not see a bear, but I know others have. The river was exceptionally beautiful, the third day in the canyon walls were my favorite! The guides took us to jump rocks that were fun and safe (couldn't help but be a nervous mama) and my boys loved the thrill of jumping. The most challenging part was exiting the rafts for the day and walking up to the lodges. They were often steep rocky short walks, but with my mom's recent hip replacement made it was challenging. She did it though and the lodge hospitality was worth it. Wine and appetizers with big, wonderful meals...it was a perfect adventure for all of us!
