Best Vacation Trip I’ve Ever Had in the 73 Years of My Life.

I waited 60 years for this trip, ever since seeing it on Wide Word of Sports in 1955. When my son asked me last year if I would be interested, I jumped at the chance.

The Western River Guides were the best ever, the raft was very safe and the "Accommodations" were great. From day one to day seven it was an experience I'll never forget. I've been to both north and south rims before but seeing the whole Grand Canyon from this angle was almost unbelievable. The small rapids were fun and the biggest ones were even "Funner."

Our group of 18 runners were from all over the country and were fantastic. Everyone interacted with each other in a very friendly way. A group called "The Mad Hatters" were especially fun. The food was expected to be good but it sure was a lot better than that. Each meal was prepared as though in a 4 to 5 star restaurant and the "Dining" atmosphere couldn't be beat. Sitting there with plate on lap eating with the cliffs, unique vegetation, and river making a soothing sound as it headed south was pure pleasure. The bathing did leave something to be desired, water being in the low 50's but had to be done. Any way to warm up the Colorado River a bit?

Even the hikes to the various falls and interesting sites were fun. Before I took this river trip, I was told I wouldn't be able to handle the hikes but I did, except for one that was too high for my fear factor. Legs didn't give out and wasn't too winded. Being the oldest and kind of out of shape made me a little slower than the others but what the hey. If I could, I'd go back and do it again in a minute.
