The Colorado
Random, swirling calm,
tranquil and meditative.
Tamarisk draw life
below ancient sandstone.
Laces of dancing sprites on the horizon
beckon like sirens, enticing,
to reveal their playful power.
Once molten granite runs wildly
thru the black sheened schist.
Cold, wind, sun, heat...
humble us.
Red cliffs rise to the cerulean sky,
carrying the spirits of those before us.
Rock cathedrals gather our humbled
and knowledged souls,
casting them to soar
like wings of the condor.
