Trip of a Lifetime!

I've been on some great vacations before, but this was truly the trip of a lifetime! From start to finish. Friendly hosts and guides, spectacular scenery, and terrific food!
The 24 hours at the Bar 10 Ranch felt like summer camp - meals in the lodge, horseback riding, skeet shooting, ATV ride, nature/history talks, a talent show under the stars! So much good clean fun! (as a city slicker I had my doubts when we rolled up....but they were squashed and I was just sad we didn't get to stay longer!).
The rafting trip was everything I expected and more! The boats were spacious and comfortable. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable; you could tell they loved their jobs and I felt safe in their experienced hands.
The food! It still amazes me how they were able to cook such good food (and plenty of it) in such a setting. Fresh fruit, eggs and bacon, pancakes, blueberry muffins, make-your-own sandwiches with all the toppings/condiments, pasta with sausage and veggies, and steak and shrimp cocktail!! Come on! I don't eat that well at home! Plus you were never lacking for snacks between meals. :-)
Yes, the river was a little chilly but the sun was strong so it felt good to cool off. And since the air is so dry, you're not sitting around in wet clothes all day/night. Sleeping on the cots under the stars was an incredible experience! They give you clean sheets and sleeping bags; one recommendation would be to bring a travel pillow which we did and were thankful for.
There were four of us in my group and we all agreed that it was a fantastic trip! Thanks Western River! We'll be back!
