Wow to Double Wow – Best White Water Rafting
I first visited the South Rim of the Grand Canyon last October with a former girlfriend; after spending a couple days walking the rim and hiking down Bright Angel Trail to the first rest stop, I decided I wanted to raft the Colorado River, with or without the girlfriend. Solo, I booked the 4 day ranch/canyon trip shortly after returning from the South Rim. (She doesn't know what she missed!!!!). The Bar 10 Ranch was fun, especially the horseback riding for this city boy, but it was only a warm-up for the real show.
The helicopter ride into the Grand Canyon was like riding one of those horses again, only this time the horse had wings!! Then the landing and meeting your fellow adventurers (some of whom I had met at the Las Vegas hotel, and the Bar 10 Ranch) followed, then the glorious trip really began. Aside from recounting the scenery of the canyon, the thrill of the rapids, the fun jump from Pumpkin Rock, the Travertine Grotto climb, and the great food, what really made the trip was the camaraderie that was quickly established among our fellow travelers, that's why I uploaded a picture from a lunch break with some of the group in blessed shade, as it was hot, hot, hot. (Anyone can upload a stunningly beautiful picture of the Grand Canyon!!)
The camping was a little more rugged than I expected but our guides, Evan and Shad, handled everything smoothly. That was some cold water to bathe in!!!!!!!
I'll be back for the best white water rafting again!!
