Rare spots are available on the Grand Canyon August 25 and 25. Cataract Canyon September 2 and 9. Desolation Canyon September 5.
Bright Angel Creek, originally referred to as silver creek, was likely named by Major Powell after his expedition in 1869. The creek, brilliantly clear unless muddied by localized rain, stood in sharp contrast to the “Dirty Devil River” that joins the Colorado above Glen Canyon.
The lower Grand Canyon, as traveled by Western's 3 or 4 day expedition begins at Whitmore Wash (mile 188) and finishes at Lake Mead (mile 277).
