Best White Water Rafting
One of the best trips of my life!
For my 45th birthday, I decided to take a 7-day trip to the Grand Canyon on my own. I had never really been to the Grand Canyon and had always wanted to raft it. I was pretty nervous to do this by myself but after only a few hours on the river I knew it was going to be an adventure of a lifetime.
I loved everything about this trip. I fell madly in love with the Colorado River, the Grand Canyon, all the people on my trip, and especially our guides (Shad and Wiley). Our guides were so knowledgeable about the ecology, biology, geology, and history of the river - I was astonished at the amount of information these guys had about everything having to do with the Grand Canyon. And as if that wasn't enough, these guys took such great care of us - they cooked us AMAZING meals morning, noon, and night; entertained us with music and endless amounts of humor; they took us to beautiful waterfalls and to see Anasazi ruins, pottery, and petroglyphs; and of course - most importantly - they kept us safe.
And the rapids! After they described some of the rapids (10-15 ft waves) I was scared but I ended up loving them as much as all of the other parts of the trip. Such a thrill!!! I also enjoyed the helicopter and plane rides out of the canyon and getting to see the canyon from a different perspective. Very cool ending to the trip.
I've traveled all over the world but this is a trip I will repeat and repeat and repeat - with Western River.
